Singapore Taxis - call for action!
Singapore has one of the highest ratio of taxis to area (86 cabs per sq mile!) than most countries in the world, yet it is the most difficult place on Earth to catch a cab. The system is very, very broken and here are some of the reasons why:

Digital Workflow
The following article outlines my usual digital workflow for handling my images and photos. There are many different ways to do this and I’m sure there are people with alternative and better ways to do things – but this is mine and it serves me well.

There are some foundational elements to my digital workflow that are a pre-requisite for the way I work. If you want to do things...

Mobile phone operator voice mail services! Absolutely a hangover from a previous telephonic era and just doesn’t fit with modern mobile device usage.
So you and your phone are reunited after a brief separation and you see a missed call notice:
Pressing call history – you see it’s from Joe Bloggs at 10:13am;
Just as you are about to call Joe back, an SMS arrives telling you that you missed a...

Buy local?
Ok, so living on an island means that shopping isnt exactly full of choice and lacks the options that our brethren on the mainland enjoy but considering our lack of choice for a moment you would think that our shops would be bustling, busy little goldmines. However they arent, there are many closed, closing or just plain empty of stock. Sure there is a recession and we’re in dark economic...

Scary
I don’t know what’s the worse judgement about the detail behind this article: that the girl is so addicted to messaging that she thinks this is normal; or that the thousands of things she feel she must say immediately will be vowel-less and acronyms :-)
Twitter API problems...
Twitter still appears to be having problems with their API and it is affecting a number of apps - two of which I use almost daily - BeTwittered and Twhirl. It’s amazing that it takes the loss of something for you to realise just how much you use it!!
I know there are other apps, I use them too! BeTwittered though is great as it’s embedded in my iGoogle homepage so whenever I go to...
New Year's Resolutions....

2009 should be a good year all round. Good luck to all.

Language
A strange, yet interesting set of thoughts ran through my mind the other day relating to language & time references - specifically the modern evolution of English in all it’s flavours. I frequently listen to podcasts and have noticed that particular Americanisms relating to language expressed about the passage of time. Our cousins will say “often times” instead of...

New Bank?! Why Not??
Now is the time to start a new bank! Why? Well, because the bottom has fallen out of finance, people generally mis-trust financial institutes and the government are pouring monies into ailing banks to bail them out - we are therefore in a level playing field! So my startup bank cant be any worse a proposition than the competition! At this stage, the 200 year old institution with strong global...

Annoying behaviour
I am often puzzled by the mentality of some people, let me explain a recent event. Last night the family and I went to the theatre to see a play focused around hip-hop and dance - due to the energy and the content, much of the show’s cast were young and obviously a considerable amount of effort had been invested in the dance routines, the mixed choreography, as well as the dialogue and...

First post!
Starting a blog to post my ravings and rants about aspects of life I may choose to have an opinion on..might not be correct, nor justified, perhaps often bigoted but at least a point in time thought - that I may later change my mind about!
